JUST POPPING IN | A QUICK 3-NIGHT GUIDE TO NOSARA
Not everyone comes to Nosara for a week… or a month… or a season.
Sometimes, you’re just passing through Costa Rica—checking out different towns, chasing waterfalls, exploring jungles—and Nosara is one stop along the way.
And while three nights might not feel like enough, the truth is: it’s plenty of time to get a taste of what makes this place so special…and leave you wanting more.
If you only have a short stay, here are the three things you absolutely shouldn’t miss.
1. SURF | EVEN IF YOU’VE NEVER TRIED
If there’s one thing Nosara is known for, it’s surfing.
And the beauty of Playa Guiones is that it’s totally approachable. You don’t need to be experienced, you don’t need perfect conditions, and you definitely don’t need your own board.
This is one of the most consistent surf breaks in Costa Rica—meaning there’s almost always a wave to catch.
Shorter stay tip:
Book a lesson your first morning
Go early (for lighter winds, less intense sun, and smaller crowds)
Start with a longboard—it makes all the difference for beginners
Even if you only stand up once, it’s worth it. There’s something about catching a wave here that stays with you long after you leave.
2. YOGA | SLOW IT DOWN
Nosara has a rhythm to it—and yoga is a big part of that.
Even if you’re not “a yoga person,” this is the place to try it. Open-air shalas, jungle surroundings, and a slower pace make it feel very different from a typical studio class.
Two of the most well-known spots:
Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort
Harmony Hotel
Both offer drop-in classes, so you don’t need to commit to anything long-term.
Shorter stay tip:
Go for a morning class after your surf
Hydrate more than you think you need - pipa water is great for this
Don’t overthink it—just show up
It’s the perfect reset in the middle of a fast-moving trip.
3. EAT OUT | THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO STAY IN
Nosara’s food scene is one of the best parts of being here—and if you only have three nights, this is not the time to cook.
From casual breakfast spots to elevated dinners, there’s a lot packed into a small town.
A few easy wins:
Sunset dinner at La Luna
Lunch at Rosi’s Soda Tica
A relaxed brunch in Guiones or Pelada
Shorter stay tip:
Make at least one dinner reservation in advance (especially in high season)
Plan your dinners around sunset when possible
Leave room to explore—some of the best spots are the ones you stumble into
Eating out here isn’t just about the food—it’s about the atmosphere, the pace, and the people.
THREE NIGHTS IS ENOUGH (TO MAKE YOU WANT MORE)
Nosara isn’t the kind of place you fully “check off” a list.
But in three nights, you can absolutely feel it.
You can surf your first wave, take a yoga class, sit down to an incredible meal, and start to understand why so many people come back—and stay longer the second time.
If you’re just popping in, do these three things.
And don’t be surprised if you find yourself planning your return before you even leave.
